Zuoying Guomao Community is a group of old navy apartments in Kaohsiung. It has a unique life with markets, parks, and shops. The center has two round buildings that make the sky look round. The tourists are quiet and the residents are friendly. An uncle helped me take better pictures. He was very warm-hearted!

10:30 a.m. Lotus Pond and Dragon and Tiger Pagodas

Lotus Pond is a beautiful spot in Zuoying, Kaohsiung, with many temples and pagodas. The Dragon and Tiger Pagodas are the most famous. You can enter and exit them for good luck. You can walk or bike around the lake and see the lotus flowers and the different religious buildings about 30-90 minutes. The place is also stunning at night with neon lights.

12:00 p.m. Liu’s Traditional Juancun Food

Liu’s Traditional Juancun Food offers a famous dish calls ” Sour Cabbage and Pork Hot Pot is” in Kaohsiung Zuoying. It is made with charcoal, sour cabbage, and pork.

It is a warm and delicious dish that many Kaohsiung people love. You can also try other military dependents’ village dishes, such as stir-fried lamb, shaved noodles, beef roll cakes, and red bean cakes.

13:30 p.m. 886 Cultural Park of Taiwan Military Veteran Village

Goodbye 886 is a park named after the 886 military villages in Taiwan. It shows the history and culture of the military dependents’ villages in Kaohsiung’s Zuoying area.

The park has different halls and spaces that display the migration, life, and creativity of the military dependents. The park is small, but it has a lot of details and stories that can keep you interested for an hour.

15:00 p.m. Navy Base | Zuoying Military Dependents’ Village

Zuoying Military Dependents’ Village is the largest navy village in Taiwan. It has many old houses that are well preserved. The village has a literary and wandering style that attracts many creative people and visitors.

Nowadays, Kaohsiung Cultural Bureau supports the village’s culture and life, there are many creative studios, creative shops, and military dependents’ village creative guesthouses have been invited to settle in.

16:00 p.m. Fengshan Longshan Temple

Fengshan Longshan Temple is the second oldest Longshan Temple in Taiwan. It is a national monument and a center of faith for the locals. It has many ancient plaques and statues. Lotus Pond is a scenic spot with many temples and pagodas.

You can walk or bike around the lake and enjoy the view. Dragon and Tiger Pagodas are the landmarks of Lotus Pond. You can enter through the dragon’s mouth and exit through the tiger’s mouth for good luck.

17:00 p.m. Army Base | Fengshan Huangpu New Village

Fengshan Huangpu New Village is an old and first army village in South Kaohsiung. It represents the life of the army dependents in Kaohsiung from 1930 to 1980 with many Japanese-style buildings, shops. and street styles.

Currently, Huangpu New Village also has many guesthouses, restaurants, coffee shops, and creative shops. Many dependents and locals still live there. Please be quiet when you visit.

18:00 p.m. Fengshan Joint Workshop

Located in the alleys of Fengshan, Kaohsiung, Fengshan Jiu Zhan(Joint Workshop)now is a 21st century traveler’s inquiry station. The inn is antique and looks like a traveler’s safe house hidden in the mountains in Jin Yong’s novels, with thousands of real life stories.

Fengshan Joint Workshop not only has ancient books, antiques, rice dishes and snacks, but also often holds cultural lectures or handmade workshops.
